Well-Being

The University of Michigan is building a culture of well-being, where you can embrace the concept that success in life goes beyond the classroom and careers.

The Well-being Collective is a collaborative effort focused on making U-M a better place to live, work and learn for our students, faculty and staff by implementing a system-wide approach to supporting well-being across our campus. The Collective works from a holistic well-being model and offers well-being resources for all U-M students. We approach well-being through eight dimensions.

  • Physical
  • Environmental
  • Occupational
  • Intellectual
  • Emotional/Mental
  • Financial
  • Social
  • Spiritual

Support for Engineering students

C.A.R.E Center

The Michigan Engineering C.A.R.E. Center focuses on supporting engineering students in all areas of their well-being. Make it your first stop to get help navigating challenging circumstances, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS embedded counselors provide a variety of counseling services to help you realize your potential, cope with the stresses of life, work productively, and connect meaningfully with others right on North Campus.

Peer mentoring

College is a big step, and sometimes you can benefit from having a peer mentor who knows the ins-and-outs of everything Michigan has to offer. The College of Engineering Peer Mentoring program has a proud history of connecting Michigan Engineers, some of whom forge lifelong friendships

Exercise & fitness

Just a short walk from most of your engineering classes, the North Campus Rec Building (NCRB), offers free 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. access to weights, cardio machines, a pool and courts for volleyball, basketball, racquetball and more. Taking advantage of these numerous facilities at the University—from intramural sports to yoga classes at the North and Central Campus Rec Buildings—can help to reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.

University Resources

U-M offers a wide variety of resources and services beyond what’s mentioned here. The Michigan Engineering Office of Student Affairs can help connect you with the best options.
